Washington Voters
Reject Charter Schools - again!
Washington voters send a strong message to the Legislature on election day
NO CHARTER SCHOOLS!
58.40% Reject* 41.59% Approve*
In EVERY county across the state, the vast majority of voters Rejected Referendum 55 and charter schools. R-55 was the Legislature's attempt to create charter schools, despite two charter school initiatives voted down in the past eight years.
Last night as the final counties reported election results, Catherine Ahl, Education Chair of the League of Women Voters of Washington said, "We know what works, smaller class sizes and cost of living increases for educators. This is the third time the voters have said no to charter schools, hopefully the Legislature will get the message this time."
Charles Hasse, Washington Education Association (WEA) President, said that WEA members look forward to working on solutions to the challenges that charter school proponents emphasized during the campaign.

The REJECT Referendum 55 Campaign would like thank to all those who donated their time and money to help reject charter schools and protect our public schools.
